Peer Support Camp
Eclipsing the previous year's tally, The first week of Term 1 saw a record number of new Year 9s and Year 13 Peer Support leaders journeying to Waikanae for the annual Peer Support Camp. Kickstarting the Inter-house Competition in epic fashion, the Tabloids Sports Day was another fun Term 1 highlight with a colourful array of costumes belying a fiercely contested arm-wrestle for early house points. For the 2nd year on the hop, it was the majestic Totara house who emerged as winners, but would they be able to maintain dominance for the remainder of the year... Oodles of photos here.
Dragon Boating
A great chance to get in some physical activity and bond as a team, our Dragonboaters this had the added bonus of taking out gold medals in both student and staff teams!
1SCI Hangi
Students in Level 1 Science got to learn about the carbon cycle through the process of making a hangi. The consumption of the fruits of their scientific investigation not only furnished them with lunch, but ensured that the carbon cycle continued within their own bodies. Now that's hands-on learning.
sea kayaking
Serving as an opportunity to both bond as a group and earn credits, Level 3 P.E. students shared some unforgettable experiences together as they kayaked through the magical vistas of the Marlborough Sounds.
debating
The debating season began as per normal, but after the school went into Lockdown, most debates occurred online via Zoom. Pictured below is the Senior Cert team just prior to Lockdown. This team went on to have a successful season, reaching the semifinals of the WSU debating competition.
